Can You Make The All Apps Tab Be Alphabetical On Chromebook

Anyone else wish Chrome OS had a way to organize apps alphabetically?

I love my Lenovo C330 Chromebook that I bought last September, but one thing that is very annoying to me about Chrome OS is that there is no way to organize your apps like there is on Android and I have to manually organize all of my apps.

Am I the only one who finds this a pain in the rear?

I would like the app drawer to have tabs for "Web apps", "Android apps" and "Linux apps", and then within each of those sections, I would like the ability to sort by "custom order" or "alphabetical order" or "recently used order"

Funny, this is exactly how I group my apps manually into folders. 😆

Yes, that and also when you delete an app, the other app icons don't rearrange to fill the gap. It's not a big deal, but these missing basic features make ChromeOS seem unfinished.

Why can't you rearrange apps that are in folders? Unless I've missed something they just appear in the order you put them in the folder.

If you ever have to powerwash your Chromebook or otherwise do something to cause you to need to re-download your apps again, this can be very annoying. This has happened to me a few times

Yes I do. Also, you can have an entire page with just one app to it. It's so disorganized.

I like that I have the option to arrange the app icons manually.

I HATE that I don't have the option to sort them alphabetically or in other ways.

That is exactly what I do. It is indeed a PITA, but I need to have them arranged that way

well to be honest i have two things i really really want.

Pin a folder to the shelf
Not wasting the desktop space, widgets would be cook but i hope Google has plans for a use of desktop.

I've been sending feedback since last year. I put my apps into separate folders, like what I do on my Android phone. You can rearrange them manually inside folders BUT it won't save the placement after a restart or shutdown. The icons inside folders will revert back to their original placement.

Yes. It seems like a no-brainer. When I got my Chromebook (a few months ago) that was one of few things I first tried to do - it kinda baffled me that it wasn't available.

Yep. I rearrange mine all the time. I'm always trying to get everything on one page.

I'd be happy with an app launcher like alfred.

Yeah I get this but the shelf on mine is mainly shortcuts. The destop icons isn't an issue you just adapt and don't even really miss it. Just went I first got it and was exploring it was an obvious thing I tried.

I usually drag an icon over another related icon and that creates a folder. I have most of my Google apps in a folder, as well as rom emulators, etc. You still have to condense apps into another window to minimize "pages", which IS a hassle.

Here's something I don't understand - why not allow shortcuts on the desktop? It just seems obvious, comparing to Windows and phones.

The reason for this is because on a Chromebook, Google wants you to use the Chrome Web Browser for all of your computing purposes and is trying to get users to shy away from desktop programs.

Try 'Appfinder - Alternative Drawer' in the playstore. It does all that... and more! ;-)
